Our Story

Through years of practice and education, Dr. Levitsky developed a unique approach to veterinary medicine, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge western treatments with alternative therapies to address each pet’s unique needs. She finds immense fulfillment in offering a range of options to support animals’ health and recovery, from traditional medicine to acupuncture, herbal therapies, and beyond.

Over the past 17 years, Dr. Levitsky has seen the profound impact of combining alternative treatments with traditional veterinary care. However, she observed that many senior pets, while feeling less pain and moving better with these treatments, still struggled with muscle atrophy and loss of strength. To address this gap, she pursued certification through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2017, gaining specialized knowledge to help senior pets maintain their mobility.

With this expertise and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by aging animals, Dr. Levitsky launched Golden Paws Animal Rehabilitation Center, a practice focused on providing tailored rehabilitation services for pets.

Meet The Team

Meet Dr. Jennifer Levitsky,

DVM, CVA

Golden Paws Animal Rehabilitation Center was founded by Dr. Jennifer Levitsky, a compassionate veterinarian dedicated to combining the best of western medicine and alternative therapies to improve the lives of aging pets.

Dr. Levitsky’s passion for veterinary care began at the age of 13 in her hometown of Maryland. She pursued her academic goals at Bowdoin College, earning a degree in Biochemistry with a minor in English, and continued on to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.

After completing a rigorous internship in medicine, surgery, and emergency care at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C., she worked as an emergency physician before joining the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Catonsville, Maryland. In 2000, she joined Arnold Pet Station, where she practiced for 11 years.

Dr. Levitsky completed her initial acupuncture training with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) and pursued advanced courses in Traditional Chinese Medicine and herbal therapy at the Chi Institute in Florida. Her passion for holistic care grew as she studied homeopathy under Dr. Richard Pitcairn, founder of the Animal Natural Health Center.

Meet Dr. Heike Jung

DVM, CAC, CVH

Dr. Jung brings decades of experience and a profound passion for holistic animal care to the Golden Paws Animal Rehabilitation Center. Her journey in veterinary medicine began when she graduated from Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. From the start, she sought to provide exceptional care, working in diverse environments ranging from small animal and equine practices in Massachusetts to co-owning a fast-paced veterinary clinic in Michigan.

Dr. Jung's perspective shifted when she observed remarkable transformations in her own animals through chiropractic treatments and homeopathic remedies. Inspired, she pursued certification in animal chiropractic through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association, gaining the tools to address the root causes of her patients' ailments rather than simply managing symptoms with pharmaceuticals.

In 2015, she made the transformative decision to retire from conventional veterinary medicine to focus exclusively on animal chiropractic care. Today, she specializes in treating dogs, cats, and horses, helping them achieve balance and wellness through natural, non-invasive therapies.

Dr. Jung’s commitment to natural healing aligns perfectly with the mission of Golden Paws Animal Rehabilitation Center. She brings her expertise in chiropractic care to complement innovative therapies like underwater treadmill therapy, creating comprehensive rehabilitation plans for pets in need.
